Howells-Dodge falls to Clarkson/Leigh

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars lost 46-6 at home to Clarkson/Leigh Friday night.

Neither team scored in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Patriots notched 14 points to lead 14-0 at halftime.

Clarkson/Leigh added 20 points in the third quarter to go up 34-0 at the end of three. The Patriots doubled up Howells-Dodge 12-6 in the fourth quarter.

Here is the scoring summary for both teams:

Clarkson-Leigh High School 03:32 #6 Kobe Paprocki runs for 31 yards. (Two point conversion run by #32 Jacob Gall no good)

Tyler Polacek was 8-11 passing for 79 yards. Dax VanLengen was 4-8 throwing for 68 yards with an interception. Polacek ran for 57 yards on 17 carries.

Zach Bayer made 13 tackles while Polacek totaled 8. Kade Hegemann recorded 7.

The Jaguars totaled 324 yards of offense, including 177 on the ground.

The defense surrendered 499 yards of offense, 359 coming on the ground.

Howells-Dodge definitely played well enough offensively from a statistical standpoint to win, but the defense definitely let the Jaguars down.

Howells-Dodge (2-2) is at Nebraska Christian (3-1) Friday night.

The Eagles won 52-12 at Cedar Bluffs last time out.

Nebraska Christian is a solid team, but hasn't beaten a quality team.

The Eagles' lone loss is to East Butler, who beat Nebraska Christian 56-20.

I look for the Jaguars to rebound and pick up a win Friday night. Howells-Dodge certainly has to do a better job of finishing drives and can't turn the ball over, but as long as they accomplish both tasks they should be able to win.

I think the Eagles will challenge the Jaguars, but I think Howells-Dodge finds a way to win this game. It may not be the prettiest game for the Jaguars, but as long as they win that's all that matters.

I'm sure Howells-Dodge will be motivated and upset given what has happened to them the last two weeks.
I'm willing to bet the Jaguars want to do something about their recent struggles, and get back on the right track.
Howells-Dodge has to have a similar effort to the Bloomfield game. The Jaguars have to dominate Nebraska Christian the way they did the Bees.
Polacek has to step up and lead this team. He had limited production against the Bluejays and Patriots, and needs to have a breakout game for Howells-Dodge Friday night.
The Jaguars have to step up and rally as a team. Howells-Dodge cannot let the results of the last two weeks result in the loss of their season. The Jaguars need to win Friday night. It's a must win for Howells-Dodge.
