I was surprised Howells-Dodge lost this game. I thought the Jaguars would win and host a first round playoff game, but things just didn't work out that way.
Howells-Dodge (3-5) is at High Plains (6-2) in the first round of the playoffs Thursday evening.
The Storm's two losses are to BDS and GACC, two of the better teams in the state.
High Plains defeated Fullerton 62-14 in their regular season finale.
I think the Jaguars are going to have a tough time with the Storm.
I feel like Howells-Dodge is capable of winning, but with the game being in Clarks I have to give the edge to High Plains.
That's not to say the Jaguars can't win though. If Polacek can go off and get help from his teammates, this team has a chance at making a run in the playoffs.
The Jaguars have certainly underachieved this season, in my opinion, but a couple of wins in the playoffs would make things better.
I didn't see Howells-Dodge going 3-5 in the regular season, but they did. At the same time, it's the playoffs and it's the Jaguars. They are certainly capable of making things happen and winning on Thursday.
Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
