West Point-Beemer falls at home to Pierce
The West Point-Beemer Cadets dropped their 6th straight game Friday night, falling 62-13 at home to Pierce.
The Bluejays led 21-6 at the end of one and outscored West Point-Beemer 21-0 in the second quarter to take a 42-6 lead into the locker room.
Pierce doubled up the Cadets 14-7 in the third quarter to go up 56-13 at the end of three.
The Bluejays won the fourth quarter 6-0.
Dylan James rushed for 141 yards on 30 carries.
Tate Toelle was 7-11 passing for 84 yards with two touchdowns. Riley Berg had 4 catches for 67 yards, including one score.
Jonah Hughes made a team-high 7 tackles.
West Point-Beemer had 364 yards of total offense, including 238 rushing.
The Cadets put up some impressive offensive numbers despite only scoring two touchdowns. Two fumbles very well could have prevented a couple more scores from West Point-Beemer.
The Cadets (1-6) are at Madison (2-5) Friday night.
The Dragons lost 42-0 at Boone/Central Newman Grove last time out, but have been competitive in a number of their games this season.
Right now I think Madison is a little bit ahead of West Point-Beemer, and has the advantage over the Cadets coming in.
The fact the game is in Madison helps the Dragons as well.
There's no doubt West Point-Beemer can get the job done though.
The Cadets' tough games are over with, they are through.
West Point-Beemer has to start over and really focus on winning these last two games of the season.
The Cadets are out of things as far as the playoffs are concerned, but there's still a lot to play for in terms of pride.
I'm sure it would mean a lot to these seniors and the other players to win their final two games.
It would be really good momentum heading into next season, and would sort of serve as a springboard heading into 2016.
This game still matters and is very important to both teams I am sure.
Toelle and James have to pass and run the ball well, respectively, for West Point-Beemer. The Cadets also need to be tough defensively, and play much better on that side of the ball than they have the last few weeks.
