Stanton blows out Homer

The Stanton Mustangs rebounded nicely from their loss to Oakland-Craig, defeating Homer 67-0 on the road Friday night.

Stanton scored 34 first quarter points and added 20 more in the second quarter to take a 54-0 lead into the locker room.

The Mustangs added 6 points in the third quarter and 7 points in the fourth quarter.

Cobin Warnke rushed for 107 yards on 4 carries, and scored two touchdowns. Trey Erbst rushed for 101 yards on 3 carries, and also scored twice. Alex Schellpeper totaled 52 yards on 2 carries, one of them for a touchdown.

Mason King registered 16 tackles to lead all players. Dylan Hunt added 12 while Erbst notched 11. Hunter Stallbaum recorded 10 while Mitchael Sieh and Logan McKeon totaled 8 and 7, respectively.

Stanton had 431 yards off offense, 398 coming on the ground.

The defense allowed 168 yards, including 117 rushing.

This was just what the doctor ordered for the Mustangs. Stanton came out and dominated from start to finish, and really took the fight to Homer.

The Mustangs (5-2) are at Ponca (2-5) Friday night.

The Indians beat Wisner-Pilger 42-0 last week, and have really come on as of late.

This is going to be a tough game for Stanton, in my opinion.

The Mustangs are going to have to bring the same intensity and focus they played with against Homer.

Stanton can't afford to play the way they did against Twin River and Oakland-Craig.

The Mustangs have been good for the most part this season, and need to play well Friday night to come away with the win.

Stanton can't have a bad game. The Mustangs need to show up be ready to play from start to finish.

Sieh has to continue to lead this offense and Warnke and Erbst need to have big games running the ball.

Stanton has to be physical at the line of scrimmage, and has to play smashmouth football from start to finish.

The Mustangs have to take it to the Indians, and run the ball down their throats.
