Scribner-Snyder tops Omaha Nation
The Scribner-Snyder Trojans started off a bit sluggish on defense against Omaha Nation Friday night, but won going away 60-22 at home.
Scribner-Snyder led 22-16 at the end of one and tripled up the Chiefs 18-6 in the second quarter to lead 40-22 at halftime.
The Trojans added 20 third quarter points to make up the final score. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.
Michael Broussard rushed for 189 yards on 12 carries, and scored three times. Darnell Sims ran the ball 4 times for 96 yards, and scored twice. Alex Nuno toted the rock 13 times for 94 yards, and scored three times.
Jesse Schlecht led the way with 12 tackles while Kaleb Fischer racked up 11. Riley Meyer and Chauncey Holmes notched 9 apiece while Broussard and Hunter Adams had 8 each. Sims and Brandon Noel made 7 each.
Scribner-Snyder had 406 yards of total offense, including 385 on the ground.
The Trojans played well after a slow start. Perhaps Scribner-Snyder was looking ahead to Guardian Angels Central Catholic early on, but what matters is the Trojans won.
Scribner-Snyder (2-2) is at Guardian Angels Central Catholic (4-0) Friday night.
The Bluejays defeated Plainview 44-6 last time out, and have been pretty dominant this season.
It's not going to be easy for the Trojans to hang with let alone beat GACC.
Broussard, Sims, and Nuno have to all have big games for Scribner-Snyder to have a chance.
The Trojans must slow down Tanner Hass and Nolan Plagge. Both players lit up the Pirates pretty good, and have been primetime performers all season long for the Bluejays.
This is Scribner-Snyder's chance to knock off one of the best, if not the best team in the state in Class D-1.
The Trojans have an uphill battle on their hands, there's no doubt about it, but if Scribner-Snyder plays the way they did in the middle quarters against Omaha Nation, the Trojans might have a chance to make things interesting.
These next two weeks are going to be very tough for Scribner-Snyder. This match up against GACC and next week's match up with East Butler could be season defining.
The Trojans could probably lose both games and still have a chance at the playoffs, but if Scribner-Snyder could win one or both games it could make their season.
The Trojans can't come into the GACC game all big headed and cocky. If Scribner-Snyder does that they will probably get blown out. The Trojans have to respect the Bluejays.
It will be interesting to find out what happens Friday night.
