Stanton shuts out Ponca

The Stanton Mustangs won 20-0 at Ponca Friday night.

After neither team scored in the first quarter, Stanton struck in the second quarter to lead 7-0 at halftime.

The Mustangs added 6 points in the third quarter to go up 13-0 at the end of three. Stanton put up another touchdown in the fourth quarter to make up the final score.

Cobin Warnke had 10 carries for 75 yards. Trey Erbst rushed for 74 yards on 16 carries.

Mitchael Sieh was 4-11 passing for 52 yards with two interceptions.

The Mustangs played a good game Friday night. The Indians are a better team than their record indicates.

Stanton finishes the regular season 7-2 due to a forfeit by Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.

It's not the worst thing for rest purposes heading into the playoffs if Stanton makes it in. But if the Mustangs are left out of the playoffs, what an unfortunate way to have to end the season.

We will find out after Friday night's games if Stanton reaches the postseason. Right now they are the 16 seed.
