Wisner-Pilger loses at home to Ponca
It was a one sided affair in Wisner Friday night as the Ponca Indians defeated the hometown Gators 42-0.
Ponca scored 7 points in the first quarter and added 7 more in the second quarter to lead 14-0 at halftime.
The Indians put up 13 third quarter points to make it a 27-0 game at the end of three. Ponca totaled 15 fourth quarter points to make up the final score.
This was a really disappointing loss for the Gators. I thought this game would be a lot closer than it was. The Indians are a tough team, but there's no reason Wisner-Pilger should have lost the way they did.
The Gators (2-5) are at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (1-6) Friday night.
The Bears lost by forfeit to Oakland-Craig last week, and have really struggled this season.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's lone win on the season is over Homer, a team Wisner-Pilger beat 56-6.
The Gators should beat the Bears, but if Wisner-Pilger plays the way they did against Ponca, things could be interesting.
The Gators have to play well from start to finish to beat Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. Wisner-Pilger needs a complete game performance like they had against Homer to come out on top.
It could be a challenging game for the Gators, or they could win in a landslide. It all depends on which Wisner-Pilger team shows up to play.
This is the Gators' last real chance at a win so Wisner-Pilger has to make the most of their opportunity and get the job done.
These next two games still matter. The Gators have to take advantage of the practice time and games to build for next season.
Wisner-Pilger has to want to finish the season strong. The Gators don't want to go into the offseason having not given their best effort this year.
