Guardian Angels Central Catholic defeats Omaha Nation by forfeit

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays won by forfeit over Omaha Nation to end the regular season on Friday.

It wasn't the most ideal thing for GACC, but there honestly wasn't a whole lot to gain by playing the Chiefs. The good news for the Bluejays is they are heading into the playoffs at full strength as players were able to rest and avoid injuries by not playing Friday night.

GACC (8-0) hosts Mead (4-4) in the first round of the playoffs Thursday night.

The Raiders won 32-28 at Cedar Bluffs Friday night to close out the regular season.

You always worry about being sharp and in top form when having a week off, but I look for the Bluejays to roll Mead on Thursday.

The Raiders have been one of the feel good stories in Class D-1 this season, but I'm afraid their ride is about to end on Thursday.

I look for GACC to go out there and make a huge statement. The Bluejays' run at a state title starts Thursday, and GACC has to be amped, jacked, fired up, and prepared to dominate Mead on Thursday.

The Bluejays have to leave no doubt as to who the better team is.

If GACC wins, they get the winner of Nebraska City Lourdes and Bloomfield next Wednesday in the second round.

A quarterfinal matchup with BDS is very likely, but the Bluejays have to take things one game at a time, and focus on each opponent as they advance through the playoffs.

This is GACC's shot to win a state title. A chance to bring the hardware home and be remembered forever. The time to get the job done is now for the Bluejays.
